Supreme Court Oct.1 session commentary alert

ELECTION LAW
Washington State Grange v. Washington State Republican Party, Washington v. Washington State Republican Party – Monday, Oct. 1
Professor Richard Hasen, a William M. Rains fellow and author of the Election Law Blog, is available for commentary. Of the cases he writes, "Once again, the Supreme Court will decide whether the parties or the people get the last word on the form of political primaries conducted in the state. More open primaries can help moderate candidates, so this case could well affect who gets presidential nominations in the future."

 

DISABILITY RIGHTS LAW
Board of Education of the City of New York v. Tom F. – Monday, Oct. 1
Associate Professor Michael Waterstone is available for commentary. Of equality in education he writes, “Often times, school districts cannot or will not provide appropriate services required by federal law for children with special needs. One option for parents in these circumstances is to enroll their children in private school.  This case will decide whether, in order to be eligible for reimbursement for the cost of private school, parents need to first "try" the public schools."
